Product Description

Electromagnetic Interference Thermoplastic composites are primarily used to shield the transmission or reception of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). They are most cost effective when used in small enclosure products requiring tight tolerances and high shielding effectiveness.

Traditionally, shielding has been accomplished by encasing sensitive electronic components in a metal enclosure or using a metal coating on the inside of a plastic enclosure. However, thermoplastic compounds are cost-effective alternatives in many applications because of their ability to assume complex shapes and maintain tight tolerances.

The degree of shielding provided by the machined part when influenced by the thickness, conductivity level and dispersion of the conductive additive in the part. The level of conductivity is controlled by the type and amount of conductivity and additives used in the composite.

The resin-specific compounds are stainless steel fibers and nickel-plated carbon fibers made using a long-fiber process. These metal fiber compounds can be provided in dry blend or composite form.

Conductive Materials Highly conductive compounds act as conductive elements in circuits when current loads are low, and alternative materials are expensive, complex, and difficult-to-manufacture metal parts.
